Top 10 "Must Do" in Aruba - Part 1

In this 10 part blog I will give you the 10 "MUST DO" activities while you are visiting my "One Happy Island", Aruba. As you might know by now from my previous blog(s), I am a native of Aruba who left for school in Miami, Florida, just about 30 years ago. I had the honor of growing up in Aruba and have seen Aruba as a local as well as a visitor. I am happy to say that Aruba has a very unique culture and always welcomes their visitors with open arms. In this 10 part blog I will give you valuable information, so please feel free to check in frequently as I add more to the Aruba blog right here. #10 must do! Make sure to visit the amazing caves that Aruba has to offer. Most might not realize that these are some of the most well preserved in the world. The Arawak Tribe of Indians were the first inhabitants of Aruba. We suspect that they migrated from our neighbor country of Venezuela, only about 19 miles away from the closest land fall. Most, if not all of these caves served as refuge and also as ceremony temples. When visiting a cave, look out for the "markings on the walls", you will be able to see many interesting designs of some kind of ink that was used during these times. Here are some of the caves that deserve a personal tour: Guadirikiri Cave, Fontein Cave and Huliba Cave. The pictures will never do much justice to the real scenario, it's a moment you have to experience personally and yes, there are Bats in the Aruba caves. When visiting a cave, make sure you have a flashlight or better yet, a headlamp. Always watch your head, the rock hard walls and ceilings are no competition, just be careful. Should you have any questions about Aruba, feel free to write me a comment, I am always willing to share valuable information about Aruba. For more details about Aruba and it's caves please click here for Wikipedia's take. I will see you here for part 2 of Aruba's "MUST DO".
